Old Fashioned MixUpdated 10 days ago

Old Fashioned Cocktail Mix (bittermilk) Ingredients:
Florida golden cane sugar, water, orange peel, spices, gentian root, cinchona bark, tartaric acid

Suppliers:
Florida Golden Cane Sugar – Florida Crystals/ASR
Orange Peel, Spices, Gentian Root and Cinchona Bark – Ascend Foods
Tartaric Acid – Atlantic Ingredients

Our ingredient suppliers go through an approval process in order to uphold our food safety and quality standards that we have set, in addition to compliance with FDA standards. We only use all natural ingredients (so confirming nothing synthetic) and each ingredient is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis that verifies the product and provides some traceability in regards to origin.

Florida Golden Cane Sugar:
The sugar we purchase is not certified organic, and I cannot find that Florida Crystals has this Fair Trade certification either. It is all natural, pure unrefined cane sugar, and certified Kosher. We purchase golden granulated cane sugar from Florida Crystals because it is the highest quality sugar available domestically. In the past, we had purchased organic cane sugar from Brazil, but Brazilian cane sugar is nowhere near the quality of sugar made in the U.S. We are actually not aware of domestically grown certified organic cane sugar available. This golden granular sugar from Florida Crystals is the freshest and highest quality sugar available to us.

 Spices:
The proprietary old fashioned spice blend includes cinnamon, clove, coriander, anise and other spices. Some are certified organic, depending on availability at the time of purchase, while others are accompanied by a certificate stating that no known pesticides are used to grow the product (though no official certification). We are also able to trace back to its region/source and crop year using the COA we receive. I’m not sure how close we could get to farm-level on the spices, but we could inquire and perhaps get a letter drafted from our ingredient supplier stating origin and no pesticides used if that is helpful information for you all?

Bittermilk Notes:
Made without preservatives or stabilizers. Aged in retired Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels. Made in Charleston, SC.

Refrigerate after opening. Best to enjoy within four weeks of opening. If unopened, the shelf life is roughly around 6 months.
